The Adoption Specialist will provide adoption related services to assigned children and families from Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale Counties.
Responsibilities:
Provide adoption related services to assigned children and families in compliance with current State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Placing Agencies, contractual, or grant obligations, and any additional applicable Catholic Charities policies and accreditation standards relevant to the agency.
Assess potential adoptive families as needed and complete child evaluations with 45 days of assignment.
Update child evaluations upon life changes and/or yearly.
Complete and gather all required documentation to process adoptions as assigned.
Develop and implement necessary recruitment efforts for children as assigned.
Provide appropriate supervision for assigned children.
Compete all required documents according to standards of practice and required time frames.
Professionally represent the agency with internal and external customers.
Transport program clients.
Uphold all ethical and legal standards regarding client confidentiality.
Willing to perform duties in keeping with Catholic Social Teachings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Guidance and Counseling required.
Master's Degree preferred.
1-3 years of experience in the field of adoption and/or child welfare.
Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License and have no more than three (3) moving violations in the last five (5) years on their record.
Must use their own vehicle and provide proof of auto insurance for that vehicle.
Must be willing to work irregular hours to include evenings and weekends when needed.
CWIT certified or ability to attain certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Must have a strong work ethic and a commitment to a team environment.
