Summary/Objective The Material Gathering Associate performs all tasks involved in gathering, counting and weighing ingredients or other components for production activities as well as maintaining inventory accuracy.
The Material Gathering Associate follows all standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
The Material Gathering Associate is expected to maintain a positive work environment that aligns with Uckele's mission, vision and core values.
Essential Functions Retrieves/gathers available ingredients or other components in appropriate quantities needed for production activities.
Monitors packaging components and reports status to Inventory Manager or his/her designee.
Records product name, lot number, and weight on bag, box or container of pre-weighed ingredients Notifies Inventory Manager or his/her designee of inventory discrepancies.
Notifies Quality Coordinator of issues that affect product safety and quality.
Performs Warehouse cleaning duties utilizing the Shipping/Warehouse Cleaning list.
Operates mechanized lifting equipment.
Other projects or duties as assigned.

Be trained and follow Good Manufacturing Practices and required Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

Physical Environment/ RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The associate will frequently be required to stand for long periods of time and to occasionally sit, bend, or stoop to perform certain tasks.
The associate will frequently be required to make coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects.
The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The associate must be able to wear personal PPE, including gloves, masks, etc.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Associates in the Animal Plant may be exposed to raw ingredients and food allergens (milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, soy, wheat).
Work Hours This is a full-time position, with a generally set schedule (1st shift).
However, the associate may be required to work overtime or work a flexible schedule based on operational need.
Required Education and Experience A high school diploma or GED Excellent work history, attendance, initiative and drive to succeed.
