99 an hour JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY An individual in this position will assist with program needs in an Adult Day Services setting serving elderly and disabled adults unable to stay alone.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK:
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following:
(These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform) Facilitate and assist with small and large group activities.
Provide one-on-one support to program participants.
Assist with personal care of participants.
Office duties - phones, computer skills, that include Microsoft Office and social media.
Plans, leads and assists with individual and/or group activities.
Utilizes plan of care to assist client in meeting goals in the plan of care, including personal care which includes, but is not limited, to the following:
transferring; ambulating; nail care; toileting; skin care; redirection of participants; and CPR.
Ensures and reinforces the participant's proper use of assistive devices such as:
wheelchairs; walkers; canes; braces; and prosthesis.
Works collaboratively as part of the interdisciplinary team, monitoring changes in participant's condition.
Maintain a safe and clean environment by practicing appropriate infection control precautions and food service regulations.
Monitor the environment of care for existing and potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to correct them.
Participates in internal and external education and training to promote personal and professional growth as outlined by funding sources.
Demonstrates understanding of cultural diversity.
Completes necessary reporting requirements.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or
Qualifications:
An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
Experience with elderly and dementia related illnesses preferred.
ability to organizing and manage group and/or individual activities.
Skills in written and verbal communication and problem solving.
An interest in and concern for other people.
Experience with answering phones, Microsoft Office and social media.
Physical Requirements Lift 50 pounds as needed for participant to transfer with assistance by other staff and/or gait belt.
Carry an average weight of 1 to 10 pounds, several times a day up to 50 feet.
Push/pull average weight of 10 to 250 pounds for a distance of 10 to 100 feet on carpet/tile as necessary for pushing food carts and wheelchair bound participants up to several times a day.
Stand on carpet/tile up to 80% of the day.
Sit up to 25% of the day.
Walk on carpet/tile up to 75% of the day, up to 10 - 100 feet, occasionally 1 - 2 hours at a time.
Occasionally up to 1/2 mile at a time on pavement/sidewalk.
Run up to 100 yards on rare occasions in case of participant elopement.
Reach, bend and squat several times an hour.
Maintain a work pace of steady to fast-paced at times, multi-task several times a day.
Have the ability to perform CPR and basic emergency procedures, ability to see and hear information and needs of the participants in the environment.
