Assistant Director, Institute for Career Planning Work Schedule:
Ten month, full-time; Monday-Friday, occasional evening and weekend work required Example of Duties:
The Assistant Director will assist the Career Planning Director with all aspects of the office's administration, programming, and outreach functions as well as oversee the office in the absence of the Director.
The Institute for Career Planning serves students in a wide variety of areas including career coaching, internship process, job search guidance, and graduate and professional school opportunities.
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Understand and utilize software programs such as Handshake, Abuzz, and PathwayU Cultivating partnerships for internship or experiential learning opportunities for current students Oversee leadership and office practices in the absence of the Director Assist students and alumni in clarifying career goals through individual coaching Help students develop and refine resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills Discuss and guide students through the graduate school application process Communicate with individuals and entities who are interested in hiring students or alumni Develop and deliver workshops and career-related programs, including new initiatives Have a schedule of available appointments to meet with students/alumni and maintain student notes in the college management system Create and maintain the internship workshop utilizing Blackboard Develop strong public relations, and marketing, and impact student awareness online, through social media, and activities Assist with Admissions recruitment and Academic Affairs activities Present to classes, campus groups, and other activities as requested Work with faculty and staff to enhance the Career Planning efforts Manage the Suite a Bulldog clothing closet Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years' experience Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone while maintaining a focus on providing excellent customer service Ability to multi-task and prioritize work, sometimes with frequent interruptions Must be able to perform duties within the normal bounds of an office environment including sitting for periods of time and must lift up to 25 pounds
Qualifications:
Highly motivated, ability to lead, problem-solve, outgoing, creative Previous career coach/counseling experience Experience in a college setting Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Google Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment.
Expansive knowledge and experience in the use of computers (e.
g.
Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Access & Internet).
